I realize I could cap, geopoly and reweld, but sometimes I'm wanting to do this on several edges down a tube, like on tree branches or tentacles, and it's just not as efficient as a script, which is why I asked. I already have access to the cap/geopoly method now. *shakes fist at arshlevon*
The texture update is definitely an improvement! Looking a lot more ready for game action. Are there any plans on making the bears body actually reach the backpack as of now i'm sure you've noticed it's just floating :). Also I feel the bears arms lack muscle definition, they look like flimsy tubes.
The legs are still very cylindrical... blur your eyes and they look like gray tubes, despite the little details you put into them... nothing really changes the silhouette. Give the knee some bend in it, give him a nice stance showing his weight, rather than ram-rod straight.
the elbows are kinda floppy and the forearms look popeye, but not in the cool kind of way, but in an accidental way. The shoulder/bicep area looks kindof weird like someone just took a clay tube and smashed a part of it. No real anatomy going on here. Perhaps you're going for a style - if so post your reference?
Just bought a license for Topogun 2. And don't worry Neil, you didn't influence my decision. I was using an....educational version of 1.6 and I love the program so much I went with the upgrade. The new Draw, Extrude and Tube tools are amazing, and it seems the map baking is more stable.
@Brian "Panda" Choi, thank you! The hairs are Zbrush curve tubes baked on a proxy mesh. @artofmars, haha I didn't know that was a thing! Made some proper renders of the final a-pose. I'll make him a pose, a viewer and some breakdowns sometime soon. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/gde8Q
clay tubes plus flatten ftw Less soft, squishy forms would be good to indicate concrete (hard), would take a while to wear down to that level i think. Maybe some less intense alphas on the hp too maybe, dunno. and choose more interesting subjects dude :P
Hey there, Finally found some time to boost that puppy up, so here's my latest update: Not sure about the tiny poison test tubes on her right hip though. I'm thinking about puting something with a more readable shape instead, any ideas? as usual, crits welcome :)
The videos are great! thanks for letting us see into some of your random processes. I wonder, if you use Adv.Painter Plug for material boundries, do those tron lines bake to the UV's? or do you paint onto the High Poly then reference the tron tubes when creating the low poly?
the most disturbing thing about this in my poinion is how that armour kinda looks like he's wearing a boob tube... I'd check out the eat3d tutorial (this one) on making a full hi-res character, and you'll figure out some good ways of making armour etc, hope that helps
