hmm, if i were trying to do wraps around a staff, i would start cutting extra loops around the staff geo. Then i'd do an edge "ring select" and "connect" them with 2 lines and adjust the spacing so they were close to the base loops. Take these 2 new edge loops and scale them out a bit. This would essentially be one "wrap".…
If you have a simple cylinder, you can increase the number of edges arbitrarily, and then select the top and bottom cylinder caps and use the Graphite Modeling Tools "geopoly" command, which takes an n-gon and makes it a perfect n-gon, effectively giving you two circles on either cap. it doesn't work on ring selections…
I'm not an expert but I hope to help you. I'm a Max user too and I used pretty much 'Connect' for these following examples. Try to understand the concepts behind... experience it by yourself and you will get the point: TurboSmooth takes a cube and makes it become a sphere, with that in mind, add more geo when you need hard…
Pedro, I'm using Max... I posted before the same example and it was done way more simple, just a quad. But (as shogunato pointed) TurboSmooth or the other solutions to smooth a quad in Max don't give an absolut 'perfect' circle. So, I needed Connect with '5' segments until get a shape that smooths like a circle spline... a…
Joeriv, thanks. I'm not planning for example do the screws inside the main box model, all those are gonna be separated from the speakers and all the things i can do that way, too. But in the speakers that holes i model, obviously are need for the sake of the model itself; i just wanted to know if there's a way to minimize…
Man this was way trickier than I imagined. 3ds max: I started with a highcount cylinder, removed the top faces and half of the cylinder (using symmetry later on) and moved the verts down, as the others mentioned, bridged those faces and caped the border at the top. Then I connected the verts with the cut tool to get the…
Thanks, about Floating Geometry in 3ds MAX, I just saw lesson by DT "Modeling_details_using_floating_geometry" and there is fine example to model "convex" geometry. It is ok. But how to model the "concave" geometry on a model as in video in Blender by SanderDL ? Nam.Nguyen Unfortunately, Nmaps are not suitable for me :(…
Trying using an icosphere or cube - (Cube only) add a subd modifier (1 level) - apply it and go into edit mode - delete half the mesh - select each edge loop and add a spherize modifier - mirror mesh and weld together - add subd modifier and you now have an all quad sphere. Or try using a sphere with less loops - try an 8…
this is my lazy attempt because you did not show exactly what you have done so far. but hey.. keep them squared (not perfectly on my picture, but i just did this in 2 min ) ..so normal boxes turns round when you turbosmooth them without using smoothign groups. splines are good, and could be good for block out, for…
Hey Guys, I'm new to this forum. I have an issue with a deceptively tricky but seemingly simple shape I am attempting to model. I'm sure there is a really simple solution but as I'm still learning modelling proper I seem to over elaborate often and as such I haven't been able to find the answer. I'm sure you can see my…
