I tell them "do you see in tv commercials, where they showcase a cleaning product, that the flowers go around the screen, or the harry potter magic spells and dragons? I do this, it's like drawing" I will not explain further the difference in video games vs film... If they are familiar with the subject i will further…
The only time I've seen someone with my name, with my spelling in a game was the janitor in Kotor. I was like, "Really? A Janitor?" Visually, nothing like me, but generally brown people are still a rarity in games. I never wanna see my name in a game ever again...I fear a worse fate.
I think amfetamine (spelling?) can keep you up and make you do stuff (you dont even like) like a maniac. Its rather popular among studens around here, i dont do it tho, i have this rule (for drugs) that if it doesnt grow naturally i dont do it.
Pretty solid outcome. Good work! I really like that gold texture. Why not put your own twist on it? It's beautiful as is, but why not maybe add some bandages where the wielder would hold the staff or some damage or something to show it's seen its fair share of battles of spell casting. It's just a thought. ;)
sorry shoulda clarified, when I said vfx artists i meant games fx artists, like particle wizards. the guys who can create explosions, hit fx, magic spells etc. If you can get fired up about that kinda stuff and get really good, you will never be hurting for a job.
*spelling..... Just a heads up on the hood Down_limit, i tried that direction some time ago and i had trouble with her ears clipping the hood, looked to bulky for my taste. Could not figure out how to make it look ok. Curious to see if you guys can pull it off! Your concept looks great.
i don't really understand your adversion of this. When tesselation becomes ubiquitous we'll bake heightmaps for every asset anyway, and the issues with floaters (brush tool in photoshop?)/uv seam differences(just add padding?) apply for tesselation too. Could you guys just spell out the drawbacks you see with this for me?
I still find this thread mindblowing. It is a method of texturing I like very much, just needs a lot of planning. Is there any name for this kind of texturing method? I'd like to find more information about the technique and games where it was used. There are some hints in the thread, but nobody spells anything out -…
@Tenchi: Thank you very much! Yeah, anatomy is one of my weak points. I have a couple finished characters for a project I'm working and soon they will be uploaded :) I still don't know what I will do about the website design. Perhaps a normal menu bar is the solution. Also, spelling mistake fixed!
If your making it for real time then use a real time shader like Xoliuls (spelling) that way you get a much much much better idea on what it is going to look like in engine. It frustrates me too see people use scan line or mental ray for anything other than grey box models.
