I made this for practice, and seeing as u'r making an effort to improve it I thought it might help It doesn't follow the concept much and the detail is missing, but the rendering portrays a different approach. I try and focus the palette and place the light naturally.

I'd say it looks a lot like Max in MP2. It's different from the first Max Payne of course, but I don't mind that at all, his personality is portrayed much better by the actor that did the sequel. The original reminds me of Johnny Knoxville.
If you wait about two weeks, Castlevania: Potrait of Ruin should have multiplayer co-op over wifi. There's also the mario kart that you can race on the same team, and which ever team gets the most points wins.
I had no idea it was a male until I read it. Since it's not only a fruity looking costume, the fact that you made him younger is going to make it difficult to portray him as a male.
My only crit on this cool character is technical. I think you could of benefited from using some alphamaps on the wings to give that fiery look the concept portrays. Otherwise, rock!
ok yeah that kong demo was pretty damn rockin'. They did a good job o f portraying the intensity of the situations. This does seem to me to be somewhere between a game and interactive storytelling.
