It sort of depends. If you're using the metalness workflow, there are a couple limitations. You don't get as much control over the reflectivity of non-metals, everything is fixed to 0.04 while in reality non-metals reflect in the 0.02-0.08 range or so. Also with the metalness workflow, you can get some nasty edge artifacts…
hopefully i can clear it up a little further for you as well. with PBR, there isn't really such a thing of specularity. i know you might think it's productive to think of specularity and reflection as two different things, but really they're the same. so with that in mind, in PBR we try to refer to it as just…
agitat3d, I'm not sure if you mean roughness or specular values in your OP. It seems like you're talking about roughness/glossiness though. And in that case materials hardly have a definitive roughness value. Every material (aluminum, plastic etc...) have endless roughness variations. Think about how rough a surface can be…
Donating to turn off ads is a nice thought, but I'm not sure there's any value we could offer beyond "supporting Polycount." I'm also not sure the effort to get a handful of people to pay $10/one time or something would markedly offset the ongoing costs. The Spreadshirt site sold a lot more swag than the last t-shirt run…
2004 is when I'd first opened Blender, been hardsurface (mechanically) skewed modelling ever since. Now I've only recently taken up games dev again after a 4yr break self learning VFX asset production techniques which translate quite easily via some core aspects into realtime workflows i.e contigous geometry, optimised…
All you're missing is a torus and a teapot! But seriously now... If I come across as harsh, I apologise in advance. The model looks like you made it out of cones and cylinders, which is fine. But when the geometry still looks like cones and cylinders, then something isn't right. Armour is very modular and made up of lots…
I agree that I'm not entirelly thrilled with the visual quality - as I mentioned earlier, I'm personally disappointed in the texture resolution being so low. Looking at a similar game in terms of style, I think Max Payne 2 had crisper 2D work. However... I don't assume this is necessarily a flaw of the Source engine, or…
Well, i didnt enjoy the novie that much either. I think it had too mucha ction and not enough dialog. Almost like a porn action movie. I was expecting much more. The thing about Daniel Craig, well, it's ok for him to be more agressive as a bond, since it's supossed to be that this is is first time being a Double 0, he got…

I like the general thrust of his argument, students need to wake up, not play it so safe…
