OBJ does support normals. I was hoping the converter would generate the tangents and binormals the way the plugin is supposed to do.

udk will import maya normals as hard or soft if you check "explicit normals" while importing your obj's in udk

yup didn't bound it correctly, also for some reason i had to export it as obj, import, and rebind to the original fbx.

Anyone else having issues importing the OBJ that "HW2BGBuilder" outputs in Maya? Cant see the mesh in Outliner for some reason.

did you try exporting as obj and importing it again? try different solutions with normals, without, with smoothinggroups, without etc.
