Hey guys! So, I'm sure we all can agree that Zbrush 4 is freaking incredible... I have been getting really used to using spotlight for a lot of my texturing needs lately, however, there is just one tiny thing that doesn't suit my preference, and that is only having yahoo image search .dll (and the other two defaults) for…
XnView ought to be able to display most DDS files. It’s a container format though, so it could contain all kinds of compressed or uncompressed, high/low bit depths, and various numbers of channels. So it’s kind of hard to support all those.

It´s all here: http://boards.polycount.net/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=204607&an=0&page=0#Post204607 Unfortunately I´m not very skilled in Mudbox, so I don´t have any highrez model. This time I think that I will have to leave all the details on the textures... Unfortunately I´m not very skilled in texturing... This is going…
Yep just combine the 2 together. It would be awesome to have them be all the same material, but if you are just going to place them together then its just better to have them combined. Unreal has draw call limits and asset limits. The more objects that it needs to cull out can end up being expensive even if they aren't…
You guys on this forum are probably getting sick of people asking about normal maps by now. But I'm still getting a bit stuck on the brick wall work flow. So I've been looking at these on making modular brick walls: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?p=924231#post924231 Very good, but I find I still have some…

I had not a very extensive sculpting training, small sizes mostly during my much younger years. And would say it doesn't overlap digital sculpting a lot IMO. Sculpting in Zbrush is much more brush interaction with always 2d screen image at a time like usual painting than actual sculpting really. Feels very different. Would…
If I plan to make UVs work with 1024x512 (for example) I simply pack the uv-shell in two nearest 0-1 squares and after that scale them all to 0-1 square. Works flawlessly and easily.
Hey polycounters, I've started working on an environment for my portfolio. This is my first attempt after I learned uv'ing, texturing using PBR and a bit of modelling in 3ds max. After reading a bit on the forums I realized in order to get some freelance jobs I really need to do my best, even if it takes me one month and…
