merge and save the uvs on a clone, then try to copy and paste them with uv master (or goz to an external app and restore them there)

Also in my situation it might be a better Idea to apply the already made normal maps as a diffuse and merge them that way

Nothing special there. Just scanned them. there are some areas where the fingers merge but it's close enough to the joint that it doesn't matter.

You should be able to merge the vertexes, and then use cleanup. That's how I usually do it. What version are you using?

They are currently merged yes, but I can fix that. My plan was to have a mostly transparent texture there with some antennas or spikes.

Is this going to be exactly like the concept or are you merely using it for general inspiration for the environment? If the former, there are a few things that are not matching up.

Vrav, yup that's a known bug. After selecting the group of verts you want to merge, deselect one of them and then weld.

that's a shame ... i wish there was a way to merge ZBrush primitives with an externally-created mesh ... could do lots of cool stuff with that.
