Hi all to the master here, I'm pretty new to 3D and I was trying to model a halo battle rif and I faced some problem which I don't really know how the topology work at this section because there are like hole etc, wonder if anyone here know how it work for the topology?
Hi all, So this is how I create hard L shape crease on curved surface Need some further advice if this can be solved in a better way (without open subd / smooth group methods though those are easy :D ) Also in second picture from top, that kind of face deformation (highlighted face) acceptable or not? Hell ocd took over I…
@ANAFREE It would be best and less of a hassle to separate the handles from the cube mesh. I do not see a reason to keep them connected. As the subdivision tries to smooth out all the elongated topology, it creates overlaps which causes the z fighting. Separate the mesh, clean the messy face, and add a subdiv modifier.
Check this out, its not perfect but with some adjustments it could do the work. 1. Make a cylinder with square subdivisions. 2. Chamfer all the verts and weld. 3. Extrude and bevel by polygon all faces. 4. Add supporting edges as you wish. 5. Add turbosmooth. 6. Add bend modifier.
Hi everyone! First post here on the forum :) Having a bit of a problem with this suppressor (trash panda by q), as I can't seem to make it keep the smooth curvature on the front side once I turn on the subd. By adding loops horizontally it also breaks the curvature, really got no clue what to do. Is it because I modeled…
Not sure what you mean by bevel the inside? You don't need those edge loops to run all the way down the side either. From there I just selected the edge faces, beveled inwards, shifted inwards. Then if you want you can also bevel the other edges to make them smoother.
This shape looks like a quadball. Make a quadball then make the top and side polys of it circle(there's a tool for it in 3dsmax tool ribbon). then bevel the side faces and get appropriate cutter shape. do boolean operation and cleanup. Image below is for the smaller shape. Bigger shape seems to need a cutter shape…
@Thanez Hey Thank you so much I really appreciate your answer, the last question that I have. How did u fix the non planar problem, can u share, wiith details please. I´ve tried to make the faces planar one by one but in my final result the "circular border" that I get looks so bad.
You could always cut the geometry inbetween existing geo. this way you have natural chamfers around your mesh ( you could also select the faces and inset them) . here is a really really really lazy me doing this in gif, because at work, I have not been doing 3D for a loooong ass time.
