Oh I never even thought about posting process shots! Thanks I'll do that from now on! And yes, everything I've shown so far is realtime, mainly in Marmoset and UDK
For rendering, ie vray, mentalray, etc. what you want is a fast CPU. The GPU is for realtime performance (ie. the viewport in Max / Maya / Unreal Engine /etc.), or for special GPU-based renderers.
the problem is backwards compatibility.... But you could just use unity right now for a realtime 3D folio. No need for the user to install a new browser and the unity plugin works nicely on mac and PC.
nex is the big one, i actully dont use many of the tools it adds but the new selection style really helps. for realtime render i also like using the hlsl shader Xoliul.
When you do that it will enable the opacity channel to paint here, you just have to select and paint. To see the results in realtime you can change the shader under the viewer settings tab.
For a realtime lens, would be neat to use one of these. Just thought it was interesting that these two threads popped up next to each other. http://boards.polycount.net/showthread.php?t=72528 http://wiki.polycount.net/DuDv_Map
Thanks! :) Got a few realtime vids of a few of the traps, with animations where applicable. Back Breaker (with animation) Venus Helmet (with animation) Shotgun door traps Reverse Bear Trap Shotgun Collar
Ok, here´s one thing that all softwares are starting to have, XSI and new Mudbox will have so I think Maya 2009 could also have realtime ambient occlusion.
im also having problems with max2009. I duno how to display normal map in realtime. I went to the directx material dialog box and the option for displaying dx material as standard material is not there.
Thats true, but they could implement on alpha occasions, as I cant show a client my realtime model sometimes. I think that would be easier if they add that in the future, even if there´s a on/off function.
