Try to keep your faces a bit more squared. You should look at reference when doing retopo look how other people do it study it. You can see someone flow when you mark al the stars(vert connecting to 5 quads) you trace the edge flow starting from the star and try to replicate it on your model. find your self some wireframes… -

I've been able to replicate your result. Purple polypaint does show up as green in xNormal. Used xNormal's 3D viewer to check. Don't know why. Colors are correct in Marmoset though. Tried different polygroup colors (including white) & that seems to have no effect. Perhaps the RGB values for purple are different in xNormal.… -

Look around at different resources, games, portfolios and just get an idea of how somebody does something, try to replicate it in a sense.
