not really feeling any of the designs, the one i like the most is 5, but that circle in the middle bothers me a bit. Also, once you pass it to your 3d guy, he will have issues merging that cylinder from the handle, to the flat surface of the weapon, id recommend you try something different, take a look at what other people… -

I guess you've made one slat and duplicated in a circle? You could try a very small bevel on the slat. If its an old barrel you could push a few slats in a little so they look like the first ref image. I would make it an even number, for the same reasons Selaznog said. Its just easier to work with.
