I think the realtime view in the viewport doesn't use attenuation, so it might only show up when you render. Also you might just need to turn on shadows.
No, but it's usually easier to get a nice result using a realtime shader, than it is using a raytraced renderer. The latter usually requires a more careful material and lighting setup to get a solid result.
Awesome work guys! Can't wait to see more of the game fleshed out. Several years ago, I couldn't imagine visuals like this runnin in realtime. Mad respec', bro.
YES! FINALLY! nimlot's Chinese Warrior lady may be helpful with how you want to break down the low poly. http://polycount.com/discussion/143157/female-warrior-realtime-character
might want to rephrase that - blender's cycles would probably be the best renderer if you're doing your final render with blender's cycles. Do you mean the best realtime engine to preview in?

Okey, yeah.. Saw that he wrote maya now.. Then stop rendering stuff out in the software renderer.. I looks terrible.. Just use a realtime shader like kodde shader..
[ QUOTE ] Im not aiming the reel at games companies, hence the lack of realtime models. [/ QUOTE ] Well, as long as you don't ditch Polycount for cgtalk. Friggin' awesome stuff as always, Daz!
You can use the metalbump9 directx thing, but it washes the textures out and dosent look very good.. D3 is your best bet for realtime because its pretty easy to use.
