how to make material
Hi all, I am looking to make a specific type of material. Part of the material needs to be metallic while the other part needs to be flat. Its a wallpaper. See the enclosed image. The gold is metallic and the white is flat. I have a jpg that I am using for the wall paper right now. How would I go about making that? Thanks… -

Ok, a little more free time has sprung up. LateWhiteRabbiet has provided you with some very good tips. In regards to this character I think the mouth area might be reading a bit flat, but looking at the concept, this guy does have quite a flat forehead. In the second image, the faces from the tube are baking onto the flat plane. That's why its a good idea to explode your mesh. If you have your cage between the tube and the flat plane, it'll prevent that weird shadow. Maybe try baking by mesh name? Although I was never able to get that to work properly. -

Thanks :) Yeah, the bottom part is a bit flat, problem is everything is so flat in the profile, and even that round thing doesn't have alot of depth to it really... so I don't know, I tried making it with depth, but it just felt kinda silly...
