Depends on what you're trying to achieve. Sounds like a lack of understanding of what normal maps are for. Baking lighting into your diffuse textures can be affective for getting AO and other semi-non-directional shadows. It sure can, dynamic shadows can be setup to give excelent result. Transmission colour and masked values don't effect the actual transmission, it's only fakes it. I think you need to clean a lot of your workflow, (sorry if this has been mentioned above) Your normal maps appear to be generated from crazybump? Your diffuse maps super busy for the style. Usually the diffuse doesn't need more than just color info. save that stuff for the Spec map. Find references for the materials… -

When you import your normal map into UDK you need to make sure to change the format from TC_Default to TC_Normalmap and also check the "flip green channel" checkbox.
