Sounds like you'd really like someone to pick this up but its not gonna work. You could make a static bird attached to his shoulder but it can't have its own animations. Workshop items don't have their own animations they are just bound to existing skeleton joints. This idea could be adapted for a courier however.
I thought about how i'd save texture space before the contest started in case i'd join and since those workshops are all about sharing and learning - here are all the things i remember right now that might work and be worth looking at. p.s.: sorry for the terrible writing. i suck at writing with my mouse :|
yea i've been laggin in posting WIP pics but here's my progress atm. I have most of the base meshes in zbrush ready to be detailed :) and i most likely will smoot hand resculpt the face because i did learn some new techniques at a recent naughty dog workshop that i plan to apply to this piece! :)
Camera narrow angles are absolutely less appealing than a good framed 35mm, I was referring to this particular situation, for workshops to display wips and wires, not for final presentation of course. They are indeed quite boring and dull, but in my opinion is easier to understand the relation between dimensions and if…
So I have been slowly tweaking this asset and here are the newest screen grabs. I have lowered the texture size to 512x512 and I have been optimizing the geo. The texture still needs work, but I'm watching a gnomon workshop on texturing right now to get better. I should have better grabs tonight. :)
I would recommend posting requests for help in one thread or in the workshop technical help thread. In any case, you need to export as a .fbx or .smd to import to Dota 2. I always use .fbx personally and have never had many problems but I've heard people say they get better results from .smd.
The thing I like about Polycount is that you learn from industry people here and you get a lot of help from these guys. Also you learn new tricks to become more efficient when working. Thanks to Polycount I've gotten a lot better seriously. Also participating in the workshops helped a lot too.
you won't find much of his work at all online. dude's a big time low key hermit. but for my money there's nobody better than jamie beswarick. if you ever get to sift about weta workshop where the place is littered with the clay sketches of his and dave meng ( also a favourite ) . . . man. hurt feelings
All right, updates have been slow recently. Moving out and stuff. Will probably be slow over the weekend too due to the Massive Black Workshop. Trying to build a set of MultiMesh brushes through this project. It's a bit of a slow process to align all the subtools, but I can see it paying off immensely down the road.
did alot of fixes..hanged out with some of the workshop guys lately helped me fix alot of things I wasnt seeing first hand...new update the old sculpt didnt happen like the 2nd mortal kombat movie or super mario brothers movie. EDIT: Got motivated more UP UP-date
