Hey guys, I am currently modelling an M4 Carbine and have found myself stuck at trying to smooth this part: High-Poly http://i.imgur.com/8vaOwhk.jpg Wireframe: http://i.imgur.com/DXTaI0k.jpg Edit #1: There's actually some smoothing artifact when viewed from different angles. I plan to bake this down to a Low-Poly when it's…
Why don't you Give the mesh a material then set the Wireframe colour from the little colour box next to the mesh name (top right of step 3) and press f4? Then you dont need to constantly add or remove meshes, the colour and material of the mesh is controlled with the material and the wireframe colour is controlled from…
Thanks! I know about support loops, i'm just trying to figure out how to make a hole in a cylinder and have both a rather low polycount lowpoly and a smooth cylindrical high poly. The reason i'm using only part of a cylinder is because I intend to duplicate it 3 times because I need 3 identical holes with equal spacing.…
What does the mesh look like subdivided? If it smooths fine (or close) You can just import that model into Zbrush, Divide 3-5 times, Dynamesh. Have dense evenly distributed poly's ready for detailing. Even if the bottom isn't smoothing perfectly, you can sculpt out the errors, or turn them into dents, or hide them under…
Cut your intrude/Extrude on faces instead of where the edges are. I've been showing this a couple of time now on the last 3-4 pages.. That even i am making a mistake on this.. This is a fast one with shittier topology and 32 sided mesh. You see a small bulge on the edges but those will be gone when baked and textured. I…
ure being like wayy too hard on yourself, i think what uve got is fine and you also have to consider that this piece is really small and the shape just has to be right, depending on the final res of the textures youll be baking to it might not even be possible to see smoothing errors, and even then, this piece rlly doesn't…
1. Well, that's not very nice of the mesh then, is it. Will try to do that. 2. Okaydokay. 3. Fairly close, I fear. Which is why I can't allow it to have such extreme flaws. I might have to accept that I need a different shape for it *sigh* I might give zBrush a spin for this. Thanks for all the help! :) Will keep an eye on…
Have you seperated the Hood from the car? they are 2 different pieces and looking at your model right now, it looks like one piece.. 1. looking at your topology, your edges are not quite even. To keep a nice and good curve, they need to be evenly distributed. Yours are not 2. This will make the curve you have and need,…
Yeah I'm using Maya which I'm finding out is not really as good as other programs. As for my brilliant idea, yes I do have one. Pretend they don't exist. :p I am familiar with the resolution keys 1-3. So it looks like people use SubD so they can basically make tweaks to their shapes? But I'm sure this thread is hijacked…
@wirrexx @FrankPolygon I really appreciate taking your time for explaining everything with images .. big thanks I will use the right one next time, because of "mitered corner ". I went back to one of my project and it was box corner .Yeah it was pain to control the width of the edge. now I feel I understand a lot , thanks…
