The ropes are under tension as displayed in your reference concept image. So try manipulating the curve/s too convey that, also where the bowstring is tied at both ends of the crossbow stave, the knots should be positioned closer to the stave.
@perna I Honestly don't get it , This image is right lol ? If you talk about the pinching that can be bought by edges near each other in the depth direction of the Cylinder I second that , Smooth good on my side anyway :)
hello polycount artists there is a single vertex in the top image that, when mesh smoothed, splits into two? why? im welding together the elements and i dont know how to get around the issue. is something wrong with my topology?
Hi! I think that on making the pictures I answered myself but anyway let me post them here and confirm my idea... Image 1 is a typical case in wich you need more geometry, otherwise the tension between faces and the proximity generated when subdiving the mesh will cause lumps or straight edges... Image 2 has a decent…
I've been adding some of the images from this thread, into our wiki. Might help others, definitely a help to me in my current project. Many thanks to people who've contributed their examples! http://wiki.polycount.net/SubdivisionSurfaceModeling#Tips_.26_Tricks
i've try using helix, and adjust the shape for archive hard edge, but the helix is become a trapezium type, not ladder -> A yeah, but the shape i want is cylinder:). for still image is okay, but how about to animate turntable those cylinder -> B
theirs a easier way, why not take those images since there black and white into photoshop make a vector shape from it bring it back into max and put a shell modifier and play from there , there was a tutorial with that just recently on here I believe?
It looks close to me. Whats missing? The nut holes is all I can see. EDIT: DAMN IT, I'm sorry I never viewed the reference image at full size. lol. I see now that its much different.
It seems like you're enforcing quads only for some odd reason, don't be afraid to terminate your loops in a similar fashion in the image I uploaded, just so you don't have a ton of unnecessary geo laying around
I want to take the group on the left of the image, and duplicate it have it placed on the center of every face on the object on the right how can i do this? Im working in Maya 2017 and/or Modo 10 whichever one can do this easier
