Hey MesherKnesher - you need 3DS Max 2014 Extension 1 or 2015 or greater in order to use Quixel Colors with 3D Studio Max. Max 2014 does not support Python scripting by default. http://area.autodesk.com/blogs/maxstation/n212-extension-for-autodesk-3ds-max-and-3ds-max-design-2014-are-live
Here is some of my own work. I can't say I've ever done a blendshape mask in Maya. I guess I would use paint blend shape weights for that? Edit: I figured that out. Not sure if that's really the solution I need tho. I might be able to make a script using that method. It does give exact precision.
If you want a pretty easy to use UV editor, download and install thus plugin https://www.highend3d.com/maya/script/nightshade-uv-editor-for-maya I like it a lot. Has layout and other frequently ussed editing tools in easy access. Also makes dealing with UV set editing much easier.
I am baking a lot of separate objects, and have a script that automatically adds the projection cages, and also links the high and lowpoly objects among other things. I also want to be able to use the rounded edge feature in 3dsmax. I only need the OSNM to Tangent working. There is no reason why it should not work.
Yeah, you'll need to save out each part to FBX, import those into Unity, then recreate your level within Unity. You could probably write some kind of script that'll save out the position/rotation of each modular piece and then place those imported modules down as instances within Unity...
I've been looking into SSDR for a while now and haven't found a way to actually do it inside of max, I found a maya script on github which might be useful to someone https://github.com/TomohikoMukai/ssdr Don't suppose anyone has an information on using it inside of max though? Free virtual hugs for help :)
Thank you very much for all of that. I'll run the first script with edits when I get home to test it out and report back, however what you've told me makes sense to me. Also thank you for those references to the interface of the unwraps. That issue has been plaguing me for a while.
Awww yiiis son! I've been dieing to see another awesome movie like this, a la D9 or JD! Can't wait! Although I'm curious if the rumors are true (that the script got facelift in the past year of production so make it more resonate to with current day issues), wonder how that will play out, if at all.
Hey! I made a compilation / showreel of my work over the three years, there are a few modules that arent included such as design documents and scripting that i never got round to recording, but here it is, hope you like =] [ame=" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChCUYuTm25c"]Renn Farnell - Staffordshire University ShowReel…
