Smoothing? Surely that was Vlads sarcasm. I personally hate dam_standard brush. pinch effect is killing me all the time when I use it. I prefer Orb_crack+clay+flatten or Selwy brushes for cloth. You probably know this but in case I will paste you this link: http://www.selwy.com/2009/zbrush-clothes-tutorial/
Made highpoly and lowpoly version of the helmet, now i'm going to do UV Unwrapping and then send high poly to zbrush to sculpt minor details for cloth under the phone knob, next i'm going to use Quixel Suite for textures Probably polycount will drp by another 100 or so when i'm going to retopologize the cloth
Quick progress, some clothing blockouts! Seeing her with clothes has given me a fresher perspective and I think I'll slim down the arms some more, they look a bit chunky still to me. Hopefully that tail doesn't look like its coming out of her butt, I'm thinking of adding an underskirt.
I've been developing a way of making frayed cloth. I'm still playing around with the brush, but i'll post it when i'm happy with it. Also, what do you call these wrist wraps? My googling has been exhausted... Anyway, adjusted some proportions, tidied some paint, experimented with cloth and made a pendant.
This is a very directed question, but hopefully it elucidates what I'm trying to get at. Can you mark on the sculpt where you think the anchor points are for your clothing folds? Can you post that image here? Also, can you circle where you think his clothing bunches up, meets resistance, etc.?
Asura beat me to it. The cloth is now reading as skin, looking back at the concept art the cloth was a blue color. Likewise the only other thing I'd say I'd change is... I'd add just a few more edges in the feathers behind her head to break up the hard poly edges in the silhouette. Beautiful work though.
Thanks your kind words everyone! @Prime8: Yes, it still needs work on it, was thinking of doing its bandagey texture in substance painter instead of zbrush. @GravityBwlast: Clothing matcap is called fastshader (its a default matcap) with about 70% black applied. I stumbled upon it a while ago, its very handy for clothes!
Starting to get some of her clothing blocked in. Changed up some of her clothing a bit. Dropped the skirt and took the pants from my original concept. Made the shrug a bit larger as well. Also changed up her hair for a mohawk transitioning into a single braid look that I think fits the style of the skin better.
I made another pass at the clothing, but i could really do with critique or comments or anything. Does it look right? Does it look off? Is the face believable? Are the clothes believable? Do the proportions look right? Any feedback would be appreciated, i don't want to get lost in my own thoughts/opinions. Thanks
Nice start. I think the different parts in his clothing are smaller/more slim though. You could try to make the clothes a bit smaller so that his body appears larger. Don't forget to make his face slightly more feminine too, the ref you're using right now is very masculine. ;)
