Great! I was actually going to suggest that you consider setting your Max configuration to automatically enable backface culling on object creation to avoid issues like this in the future. That was the default for Max way back in the day.
Yes GI was enabled, if you want I can post my alpha for the leaves. I figured if I was going to screw around with my old Deus EX scene might as well go all the way.
You might have the "2 lights" option turned on. It's in the same viewport preference panel where selection brackets and bounding box display are enabled, and I think it's on by default in some versions of Max. Hope this fixes it! P
MIP maps should always be enabled, however you can control when they are swapped in with a bias. You can also use better filtering algorithms than the box filter to get less blurry MIP images.
Yeah, that's why I'm not seeing it, sorry. I have Shade Selected Faced enabled. If I disable it, I get the same red wireframe. Luckily, you can easily turn it on and off with F2 while working.
Either I'm missing something or triplanar projection is broken, when I enable triplanar it doenst project the image it just seemingly produces random noise: Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
I know that button 'Keyboard Shortcut Ovierride Toggle' should to be enabled to work properly , but when Im trying to do it - nothing happens, it doesn't turn on :/ Have you got any idea ? I've got 3d max 8
Impressive job! These 360s certainly enable getting right in there to inspect stuff up close. Side note, your project has re-lit a spark too tackle something like this which imo an enviro will definitely push one to the limit.
Your Mesh Normals could be flipped, you can check this by enabling backface culling in normal view, otherwise, UVs just act funky sometimes, and that's why being able to fix things manually when shit doesn't work is important.
Scanline still works for baking AO, and it's fairly fast. Though Autodesk has talked about removing Scanline. Make a Skylight, and enable shadows. Render To Texture, Shadow Map element. You can increase quality with the sampling in the Skylight, IIRC.
