Just a thought, but model a simple mesh to act as the deformer and use skin wrap..make sure the 'use all verts' (or whatever) option is checked.. -

No worries at all. Most definitely; especially something as complex as values and colour. I find stuff like that hard to wrap my head around. -

Really cool! Only crit would be that the straps going around the legs looks shrink-wrapped around, rather than stretched over the surface.. -

This is awesome! The only thing I think it is lacking is a little "character". Something like a foot wrap or some other distinguishing characteristic. Great job!
