i don't think the whole "start on cell phone game art and move into a character artist position on a next gen project" career path really exists, its totally different skillsets that don't really transfer over, if thats what you want to do then you should probably either do more of that in spare time or try to get a job…
They need to find a different alternative, this new news just made me rethink purchasing Spore until the offical word of whether or not SecuROM will be included with it or not. (I don't want those additional issue's SecuROM brings like the disableing my firewall ect...ect...) Never-The-Less the Elite's of the cracking…
Ok, I'll just say that the people who cant draw will have a tough time working on stylized hand painted stuff. I was worried that my skills where outdated but hand painted textures are still popular and the drop off in artists with those skills has made positions hard to fill. I'm not saying you have to be Craig Mullins…
awesome progress monster, and everyone else for that matter reading this topic makes me sad , seeing my old post on how i lost 77 pounds and having kinda undone that progress over the last year or so makes me want to kick myself in the head. A few weeks ago i started bootcamp over at blizzard so i`m tackling the problem…
We are excited to announce that Blizzard Entertainment licensed products will be strutting their stuff on the show floor at this year's San Diego Comic-Con! Along with showcasing some of the new licensed products coming out this year, the booth will also be where the writers and artists behind some of our comics and books…
Changes happened. Not so much due to industry reforms but progress in tech and media. There's more visibility of devs in the mass media thanks to sites like youtube, gametrailers, kotaku, twitter, etc. where it's effective from a marketing standpoint to have dev team members talk about their product themselves. You don't…
I must admit I didn't give the doors the proper love :poly136: I'll see what I can do to improve them. DrMalfice > Yes, self taught. I did not do anything particularly, I just practiced quite a lot and watched pro's textures (blizzard :D ) Good luck with your tablet and learning process :> What tablet did you choose btw ?…
I dont think any character artists do it for fame/profit... I personally have never seen or heard any form of popular media make a reference to a specific character artist before (interviews by game art-related sites do not count as popular media). Most cool characters I've seen outside of forums I wouldn't be able to name…
i think the current business model of selling software/digital media is obsolete. piracy is a problem in all sectors of the entertainment industry not just games. you cannot just tell people don't pirate! its illegal; because if they can, they will. it is inherent with digital technology. you have to make sure they can't.…
Well the whole point of this thread was that LW Core is going to be a huge change. Even if some feature you want isn't included you can either write it yourself or there are thousands of really good third party developers who frequently make plugins for free or cheap. Just look at Flay.com BTW at the moment no I don't work…
