Fun facts: -My first registered name on polycount was 'milk' -I was 15, or 16... and wanted to just troll the forums -Quickly learned that this community is really a bunch of great people wanting to learn, and I wanted to learn along with them -Changed my user name -Smartened up -??????
Isn't that very low? Do you still get shadows ? Anyway it should not affect the render time. What is the Anti Aliasing Setting (in the common parameters) ? It can affect the render time quite dramatically (2x2 will take 4 times longer, 4x4 16 times longer, etc..)
I have to say I'm less excited about small details and more about being able to work in a fluid environment. Moving a rounded, indented sweeping edge down 16 units and rotate it 5 more degrees? No problem. That's the stuff that gives me hives, not moving floaters. :)
Bit depth was the first thing I considered, and even at 16 bit/4k was still getting the issue! Both high and low poly meshes are incredibly simple, which makes it even more surprising that this is the first time I've run into it. Anyway, I'll attach the model files if that helps.
I'm using Maya btw. I thought smoothing group is for Max ? Using Marmoset 1.0 btw. I deleted half, baked, and mirrored. Set UV-1, combined, and soft edges again. Doesn't work O o' I think it's set at 16 right now.
I don't know how people use those slick, non-cloth mousepads, that moves the cursor at the slightest touch. I need to have a little friction from a cloth and rubber mousepad. I use an oversize one from Office Depot, about 16 inches wide.
Thanks guys Huge size is mostly because of the 16 bit lightmaps that i used i think. Thanks renderhjs for comments. There is always room for more work. RNM = Radiosity Normal Map. Its a methos that used in Halflife 2 for lighting normal maps with 3 directional lightmap.
not there anymore -> are you sure you still run in dx9 ? In dx8 or opengl/heidi it would disappear... maybe it was reverted somehow. also not sure for dx, but in opengl when windows is set to 16 bit, hardware acceleration is disabled for most top cards, as they require to run at 24/32 bit.
well apparently the implementation of horizon mapping in my engine only increases the memory usage by 3 times, where as in most implementations it can go up to 8-16. so i'll still use it sparingly but i don't need to worry too much about memory issues.
So what if Rockstar was proven to be perverted liars...it still doesn't matter. There are worst things in the world. People are getting killed in Iraq. Porn is only natural. 16 year old girls will never be able to play something like this. It's not like they're EA. ^that was my retard impression. how was it?
