Looks alright, the best tip I can give you is try to utilize the flat surface you have and keep the corners clean, the flat surface can pretty much have any topology you like and it wouldn't matter as long as it's level.
I think the flat one looks pretty nice for the most part. As you said, it's a hard texture to sell without geometry and the flat you have looks very good for the depth the ZBrush render has. Reminds me of Borderlands for some reason.
Bob Marley Meet Robocop.... ;D The Dreadlocks are what gives it Pazas for me at least. On the boots? Are you going have a dull flat polish to them like kiwi boot leather black? Or will you be adding some flat metal buckles to them ?
@Oniram - Loving your DX11 stuff here, just a few questions.. In UDK is this Flat Tessellation or PNTriangle Tessellation that your using? If it's flat tessellation then how are you not getting the horrible seams bug? Keep up the awesome work.
You really need to cut it up into flat quads (or triangles) to guide the surface into a shape you want. A giant n-gon won't be able to read your mind when it comes to creating a contiguous non-flat surface.
That grenade is a huge improvement! can we see wires and flats please? :) As for the creature, his back is reading a little flat, pull it out so its rounder. what concept are you using for this? keep up the good work.
Right now everythings just flat colors, and flat values in roughness. Doesn't have to be extreme, but some color variation in red paints, scuffs, oils etc can all be done through roughness channel work. :) best!
Awesome stuff! Good to see an educational title being made with such cool artwork. It would be nice to see flat shaded renders of the models and some texture flats if possible. Anyways when is it out and where can I get it?
Excellent feedback, thank you! Good thing that you mentioned the flag since that would have never crossed my mind! 50 star flag came in the 1960, so you are absolutely right. With the wear & tear I thought that some would be new and thus pristine (Ford 1940 for example), but you are right. Maybe there is a too much of a…
Hello everyone, I'm currently UV mapping the side profile of an aircraft to be mirrored later (AH-1W chopper) in Maya and having trouble deciding which strategy to adopt. One method I have been experimenting with is the use of flat plane mapping from the side and then using the UVunfold tool in Maya's UV window to unfold…
