I went to FZD. Graduated in 2016. Challenges - Honestly the crunch is pretty brutal. Especially if you're not a very experienced artist to begin with. Drawing 10+ hours a day every day can be quite taxing for some and it's made worse when the end result of your artworks still end up looking kind of shit. Landing a job -…
The problem with most starting artists (I was the same until I just pushed myself) was they are almost afraid of their skill level. They feel like they have to be INSANE good and be able to compete with the higher level artists who have been in the industry for many years, and their portfolios are just stacked with all the…
I haven't done a Master's myself -- I got a bachelors in maths and got through two years of an art degree before dropping out to work in games instead. But I have worked with people who have Masters degrees who have interned where I work. And it's the most heart-wrenchingly tragic thing. "How's the Master's? How's your…
Mate your work is dope really nice fluid shot with audio no less, impressive and that F2012 looks particularly gorgeous, well just about anything coming out of the Maranello Scuderia practically is. I only live an hour away from Albert Park so your attention to detail is spot on pretty much captured pit straight too a 'T'…
Hey man good to see you practicing. I think you really need to slow down and make sure you know how to sculpt cleanly, and sculpt forms exactly like you need. I'd suggest actually trying to work from some reference for once and trying to closley match it in order to practice that.
Edit: nvm. Not sure what I was looking at with the ears. Was thinking about normal anatomy and they looked way off, but I guess thats where they were on the real sculpture But as others have said. You smoothed it way too much. You need to nail all of the proportions first. Practice helps but you need to practice correctly
Big improvement on the handle and base. Learning the metal materials just comes with practice and time, it got a little better. It's never an overnight transformation. Keep pushing on this if you really want to, but I suggest just starting a new prop for the sake of fresher practice, more repetition. I sent you a message…
Mods, level design in particular, don't require you to build an entire game just to demonstrate / practice your craft. Building content that fits into an existing game world is as much a skill as building the content itself. Not to mention, many build and play mods as a means of extending the game they enjoy. It's not…
Then we were to use only pen and ink and use a weighted scribble line to recreate the values in the composition. This required practice, and in the end, I probably should have practiced a lot more than I actually did. This actually looks a lot better scaled down than it does at 9x12. or whatever my sketchbook actually is.
It's probably practice and you're sharpening your artistic eye. The more familiar I get with a object in 2D or 3D it helps me to draw it in the other. So its not so much a tablet but a familiarity and a way of thinking that helps me improve. Of course practice with any kind of hand eye coordination helps out quite a bit.
