Best tool for weight painting?
I'm learning rigging, and looking for a good tool for weight-painting. I'm using Maya but the weight-painting tool in Maya is confusing, I cant understand. Sometimes the influence of one bone affects other bones, and I have to repaint... I remember the weight-painting process in Softimage was so easy to do, why it's so… -

About the hair - I might repaint the texture or MAYBE sculpt the hair. @Japhir I'll also might go for a 'plastic feel' version in the final render. Just to see how it'd look. Something like an action figure or so ... But that ain't in my power, since a friend of mine is gonna do the rendering (hopefully). -

A very early model that I never actually got around to finalising properly - I had a look at it today and still liked it but it needed some work (and I really want to repaint the textures now I know what I am doing). So - retopo work today on the guards and tomorrow I will redo the carriage. -

Some new pics were released. I was track lead on Laguna, working with 1 other production artist, to bring the track up to visual spec for Forza 4. That included repainting a lot of textures from scratch at higher res, making new shaders and objects, redoing UV3's on everything and relighting the entire track. -

Got the windows and doors painted, put a placeholder on the metal roof will add more detail later. Just need to get the signs done and the chimney, pipe and roof ledge and repaint the grass too. Then have a few more objects to add to the roof (weather vein, and speaker). I will add all the loose objects after I'm done with… -

For me it really depends on the intended use of the rock. my plan for my current distraction/project is to take some of the meshes I've made, put them together in ZB and repaint, then bring out as one and retopo. Model some smaller bits of rock/plants/whatever to add to the surface as needed while in UDK to hide the… -

Thanks for the advice! I did as you suggested and repainted over the top of the old wall- I think it does look much better now. I'm not entirely sure though, I think I went too far in the other direction due to over enthusiasm XD -

Guys thanks. I learned a lot from this....I did manage to get my texture down decent enough without it being a tremendously blurry mess...but I had to go back in and repaint some pixels on stuff that got all distorted. Lesson learned here. -

Well, I do not agree on post effects, as bloom, sharpen, color correction, CA, noise,DOF, etc are all common post effects in games. If you're repainting the entire thing in photoshop, that is different however. Any post effects that are easily done in current games = fair game. -
