This might actually help. Basically it's part of the boot, going over into a hard-edge shape over it. But it needs to be clean. Not to mention I got a few more edges where I have the same problem, but it's not really viable to do it that way *sigh* I hate my life :P Basically speaking, I need to retain the shape of the…
Does anything look wrong to you? Things that jump out at me are: (i can't do a paintover right now) -On the bottom of the top cylinder, the roundness doesn't carry through to the wedged shape; it goes from being round to being flat. -The wedged shape comes too short horizontally, and appears to slope inward more towards…
"Not getting good results no matter where I add supporting geo" would probably be a good idea to post your best try and then show where it's pinching/not doing what you hoped to. Only thing I can really say atm is that you probably want to chamfer/add a loop here, because just adding 2 control edges to a angle like this is…
Hello, I'm new to this forum and have been practicing low poly 3D modelling for a few months. I started to study hard surface modelling just a few weeks ago and I have been encountering an issue with a curved face with a sharp edge in on the top, bottom or between its face..My problem here is I keep getting seam lines or…
@Rolf It looks like the basic shape of the hull was derived from a subdivision model but the faceting in the view port, the lack of support loops in the wire frames, the trim sheet decal geometry around the rivet lines and the sharp shading in the rendered image all suggest the final model is just regular poly modeling…
Thank you for that detailed explanation. The effort is appreciated. Having said that, even after looking at your examples, I simply cannot do it. I think I'm going to have to just accept that doing proper Sub-Ds on the Queen's ship is simply beyond my abilities right now. Nothing I do, nothing I try, nothing I think of,…

Not exactly sure what you're asking, maybe what i wrote in Kawe's thread will help? Like a lot of solutions to complicated mesh with sub-ds, sometimes the answer is just to throw more geometry at it! since you want to retain those curves you have, the # of sides shouldn't = the inset features, it should be more, in this…
Thank you, @Prime8, @Rolfisway, and @Revel ! I have considered all of your posts and feel much better about the bevel (thanks to you!). I'm now trying to extrude the side in 90°. I came up with a solution to converge the bevel spans which yields a decent result (as in the below images), but I wanted to get some feedback…
You can make a box with 1 length, 3 width and 3 height segments. Before deleting middle faces inset them to give those edges some geometry. Then bridge the hole and choose one horizontal edge of the hole. Ring that edge to choose all horizontal edges and choose connect edges with 2 segments and 90+ pinch (depending how…
