I don't think studios expect you to precisely match their style in your portfolio; that's what art tests are for. If as studio does mostly hand-painted, stylized work, you should send them a portfolio of hand-painted, stylized work, but it doesn't have to be stylized in exactly the same way.
I really thought we'd see some stylized games built around simply clean sub-division modeling with nanite/mesh shaders by now, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. I always liked the look of of simple shading on clean smooth meshes and thought it could translate.
I'm working on a 80s B-movie/Miami Vice inspired character for a 2.5D platformer shooter. The hires sculpt is 95% done but i'm having trouble with the fabric creases and hair, the face and might need some revision as well. Any constructive criticism or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, first post. This is a render based off liminal spaces. I modeled the items in Maya, textured in Substance, and rendered in UE5. Assets were used from Nimble Weave on Ko-fi (pool toy texture), stylized floor material- Changelog on Fab (floor tile texture), and the wall and pool textures are from Quixel. Any other…

Ive decided to start a new project on this concept made by Sean Murray, I think it would be a great piece to turn 3d. The modelling for both buildings is finished, I need to update the textures on my first building to give a more handpainted feel & of course texture the 2nd building. crits would be great :)
Your portfolio does have a bit of 'Jack of all trades' vibe to it. It can be a lot of fun to create many different kinds of art, but to compete professionally in 3-5 art disciplines, be prepared to put 3-5 times as much time and effort to advance your skills. You mentioned that you are primarily looking for work as a…
Your posting progress shots like crazy, which I can't really tell too much has been done to them and then getting upset when people start critiquing about stuff that hasn't been touched yet? Here's another piece of advice. The organic process for sculpting is different than hard surface work. With hard surface work you…
I'll agree with most of what you said. More stylized games are fewer and far between now and days. Borderlands was a great one, TF2, any Blizzard game... etc. However, some games just don't lend themselves to a stylized world. Modern Warfare for instance would be completley ridiculous if it was. It just doesn't fit.…
