Hey guys, sorry to be a complete doofus for asking but where can I find that spiffy new obj import/export plugin that should be used in place of max's built in one? I hear even autodesk is recommending it until they fix theirs.
Reading around it seems to affect Direct3D, so its not a simple "Just dont use OGL" thing... http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/installation---hardware---os/asus-geforce-gtx-480-problems-in-3ds-max-2011/
Scanline still works for baking AO, and it's fairly fast. Though Autodesk has talked about removing Scanline. Make a Skylight, and enable shadows. Render To Texture, Shadow Map element. You can increase quality with the sampling in the Skylight, IIRC.
Wow, I've not noticed it in new features. Using 2014 yet. Thanks for the tip! Now I understand why there is no support any more, I believe autodesk bought that script like outliner but why it took a several versions to implement it in :poly121:
Hehe that is indeed very funny!!!! Pray tell have you got a link to that download? Im searching the Autodesk site here and whatever documentation for max 8 they have is split up into over a dozen parts...which is the one you downloaded?
I also tried posting over in Autodesk's forum... sounds like someone else is able to replicate the problem, too: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/maya-dynamics/xgen-copy-paste-bug/m-p/7334275/highlight/false#M5667
Just tried deleting my preferences. It prompted me to pick my controls/language again, but once it got past that, same issue. I came across that autodesk link earlier and it was no help. The hardware acceleration option is greyed out for me.
Well, after a little research I believe it is/was a middleware lighting solution for games... though also a plugin for Maya obviously from that video. It was made by a company called 'Illuminate Labs' which rather predictably was bought out by Autodesk earlier this year.
A lil update, to my realtime chimp character. First pass of the haircards. So i'm focusing on the hair near the head first. This is a workflow i'm still experimenting with and i see a lot room for improvement.
