Pretty good article, but I think anyone who already thinks it's a good idea to build their own engine is probably going to think the article doesn't apply to them. Jackablade, if your Maya crashes with an error saying it is crashing your file will be saved out to this folder. If it just disappears with no ram dump or error message then you are screwed. I suggest hitting Ctrl + s every time you hit a milestone in your modeling. C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp -

My mother ignoring my advice bought a ipod because of that same line. She hated it. She also found it useless for what she had purchased it for. The local library had books on tape patrons to listen to/download. Turns out they recorded them in wma. So no. I call shenanigans on that line of reasoning. -

Heh 1 vote for starting polycount university. *edit I will help. Just clicked on a couple job opening in the 3d world, and there's some game art production houses that do internships with some colleges in their local area, so it may come down to where do you want to work and what schools are near by? -

This is unfortunate news since this industry seriously needs outfits like Ensemble. That said I'm sure a number of those guys will find work, hell some of the many talented Ensemble artists tend to dominate the local CG competitions! I'm guessing I was either crunching the university computer to get my final animation piece finished, rushing around the country interview videogame company MDs for my dissertation, or trying to make ends meet by working in the local industrial laundry. Oh, and downloading Q2 models from q2pmp a couple of weeks later -

nice would be some JS that would export each layer-folder to its seperate local file (tif, tga, png,...) based on the folder-layer name. If I would have the time I would read my self through some of the adobe documentations and create a SWF panel. nice macro though :) -
