the selection is empty so nothing happens. selection allways exists so it wont throw and error. So far as updating a label when the selection changes, You can add a timer to your rollout. in its tick event put the update code. it helps to check for a change before updating the UI. if you dont you get some flicker

Be sure to install the latest upodates ( currently PU005 ) AFAIK the UV relax crashing is fixed and the Max team releases 3ds Max updates like crazy ( ~ 1 a month ). Only problem is that the current Max 2013 install mechansim is somehow borked and requires 20-30mins per update. So don't get impatient during the updating…
