When are unnecessary faces removed in baking normals for complex objects?

The only subscription model I like is Unreal Engine 4's. Just pay a one time fee, and upgrade whenever you feel like it. Even if you stop subscribing, your software still works. I get the future is moving towards more internet based services and it's something that wont be stopped. But living in a country with data caps… -
