pretty much. that is, if you want to keep going in this industry. It's either move or dig in early as a core member of a local company. Make your self overly valuable.
Thats correct. But the you can choose between stretching or a seam. Or go with a unique texture. Or you can do local or world box projection with a tiling texture.
hmm... yeah, I've tried doing some of that stuff... Doing rotations in local space is confusing as hell, for me anyways. I can possibly look into it though...
Relax the vertices of the edges added to tighten the corners in the local axis except the ones which are too close to the hole.. like the ones here: I think :P
That's how XSI do it too, in Local mode, that's why I couldn't figure it out, and I started reading the small description of the various options (bottom left)
