First of all, if each blade is its own mesh, that's way too detailed for most games to handle. You should be using alpha maps. Secondly, flat geometry in general is going to shade badly. One way to solve this is to bend the vertex normals so they point in a dome-like shape. Was this made in 3ds Max? You can use the Edit…
Yeah, the lightning is the point ^^ I don't watch the video previously ( 'cause I'm lazy :D ) but the rain have more bolded "drops" in front of the camera, and smaller, sharper drops far away. I don't know how to solve it but looks weird. For the trees: like above, weld vertexs on the end of branches. Maybe you can remove…
judging your own art is tough to do if you work in a void without feedback. I think what happens is that each little technical difficulty you overcome during a project is small endorphin boost, and that over time you start to associate the project with feeling good, even if the end result is kinda crappy. The perfectly…
I have this netbook with an ion chip and intel chip, optimus is a bliss on my side, but for me it has been a reboot-switch kind of thing, as I don't have have the pro-version of win7, upside is that it'll never switch around on its own. Isn't there some always-on switch for one of the chips or is it the auto-setting…
Forget it guys, solved! xD The previous post about the object space baking in a wrong way was just me setting up wrongly the preview options, about handplane giving me odd resoults I fixed it by exporting the low in .fbx instead of .obj, also activating the "smoothing groups" option in the export,so maybe the cause is that…
@Parkar: I did press the reset button. Plus I sent it to a friend who is used to working with UDK (he uses a modified version for work), he checked it and found the mesh and UVs (both channels) to be fine. This means the issue is on my side and not exactly the mesh. @Zack: The map applied to it WAS tiled over 1.0! I'm such…
We made an effort to make it easy for people to upload images here, partly to help us avoid this kind of problem. If you upload images here in the forum, we will never delete them. You can always edit your posts to remove/update images, whenever you want. I know that doesn't solve it for your external sites, but at least…
the latest drivers from ATI, 7.9 and 7.10, prevent me from launching any games. they're simply not communicating well with my hardware. whichever vendor you're using, try rolling back the drivers to before this began. also, with source games, disable all the new special effects if you're running on an aging CPU. that…
Small update here, thanks for the interest guys. I'm adjusting the SSAO to taste. The lightmaps were the issue! Thanks for helping to solve that for me. Large update tomorrow! This is the star field / skybox, the stars twinkle in game :D Not sure how much further I should take this, think it looks pretty much fine for my…
So I figured out what the problem was. The maps were fine when opened in photoshop, but were flipped when imported into Mudbox. The reason was because of Crazybump. For some reason, the maps I saved from Crazybump were the only ones being affected by the mudbox flipping. So I brought the crazybump generated maps, and just…
