ok eventually I've made it to the images.. I do stop now bc I have other stuff crying for me. But anyhow.. any crits are appreciated, even now! again: texture is 1 1024 map and I'm positively surprised by the resolution you can "get out" of it cheers
you might want to work with 2048 x 2048 and then scale down to 1024. No, not becaue I´m a beliver of subpixels but you never know what may be needed for promo, poster, addon or simply a longer devcycle wich regards the possibiltie that when the game is released the higher texres will be standard.
Thanks for the feedback Teddy. I am a bit confused about the Texel Density. Correct me if I am wrong but If I work with 2048k maps should the Texel Density be set at 1024 and if I work with 4096k maps should the Texel Density be set at 2048 for best quality? Thanks.
the 2k map just an example, the uv's could've been anything from chairs to tables and what not...with tileable textures A should be ok bigger more important objects like Froyok mentioned; other non tileable and non modular less important can all be on one 1024-2048 then right?
All right, so I ended up getting rid of 10k tris and baked this down. I'm still working on the textures, but here is what I've got at the moment. UDK: Maps shown are 2048 scaled down to 1024: I'll post updates as I go. Crits and comments are welcome. :)
The bamboo works great for me (I mainly sculpt and do some texture work with it) of course I never used a hi end tablet so it may be a case of 'i just don't know what I'm missing.' I think the new bamboos have 1024 pressure levels.
Yeah by themselves they're not bad, just the jumping around the screen sometimes, but mostly how adjusting the values with the spinners is so twitchy. Sometimes it jumps to weird values. Or I'm tapping it and all of a sudden it decides to jump 0.4 instead of 0.1. Especially bad with a Wacom, just close to impossible even.
as much as I would say this CRIES a normal map, the 1024 hand painting you did to this model came out quite well, her lips look a bit narrow but other than that the overall model came out great, I hope to see you do a render of this soon
well using render to texture, you can render from one uv set to another. so just set up your first one as 1024 with nice spaced out parts, and make your second one tightly packed, then render from the first to 2nd at 512 for example
