notman: most laptops do not have a video card daughterboard. He says he has the 945GM chipset, which means he most likely has a GMA900 or 950 integrated card. These are integrated in to the mobo, and cannot be upgraded. Many manufacturers that do have daughterboards will solder them in so that they cannot be upgraded. -

steven:i had the Exact same problem with maya 9 during my term time at uni . my setup: amd phenom 955 BE,4gb Dominator Ram ATI FirePro 3750 xp64 Only occured with hi-rez meshes, sometimes changing viewport helped and by selectin lots of verts, then moving them, then moving back. Its weird. Anyhoo im with 3ds max 2011 now… -

i wouldn't go for a 775 system nowdays, amd phenom 2 are a bit cheaper and generally faster than any core 2 duo/quad on the market nowday's, not to mention 775 have all the nail well planted on the coffin (intel core i5 coming around september or so, called i5 because they are stripped version of the more expensive corei7… -

i think one version will be more than enough, but thanks. integrated intel graphics seems to work fine for me on the mac mini. at 1080p everything still runs all buttery. Admitttedly the only 3d game I've run on it is homeworld2 (which runs fine). 1080p Video and other 3d apps (cinema 4d) are smooth and fault free. Intel GMA 950 64mb -
