I've been using Modo for about a year and half now and trying to model in Max at work now feels antiquated and clunky. It will take you 6 weeks or so (at least it did for me) to get really comfortable with the program but once you do, you'll wish you'd always used it. -

Noors, thanks. Didn't think of just pasting .obj at the end. That makes it faster :) Mediochrea, that sounds interesting, but studio max at work is pretty antiquated ( max 7!) so can't use any of those sexy new tools. Thanks for the link though, it's definitely bookmarked for home use :) -

People were a lot shorter back in the times. In antique they were about 7 heads high if im not mistaken per example, 8-9 heads were titanic proportions. Edit: I thought you were pointing at a problem with his proportions Ah , wish I had time for a character -

Only replica pocket watches have that milled effect under their lid. Antique ones usually have just plain gold/silver. Seeing that effect says to me "new" and "cheap". Also your glass and paper don't sell themselves. I'm not sure what it is but they really detract from the rest of it. -

also, @PixelMasher , thousands of free keys? we sent out maybe a hundred... would you say that's waaaay too few? I suppose it kind of depends on the game. In our case, its a linear turn-based strategy game. Very niche, and a more antiquated game design in that it's one-and-done experience. -

I think your going a bit strong with your diffuse texture, especially considering the resolution of this z-brushed mesh. There is a cavity texture in zbrush right? Is that what its called? Where it basically antiques the cracks & creases in the model...this way your diffuse texture cracks will match your geometry better. -

Reminded me of Battlezone's thumper weapon. Damn that was cool. Real time deforming heightmaps eh? Hopefully it's a little stronger than Red Faction's use of its fairly innovative tech, even if this "new tech" is really quite antiquated, just underused. Let's hope to see it in more than 3 levels. -
