This movie is exactly what you need. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/20,000_Leagues_Under_the_Sea_(1954_film) It's a 1950's movie adaptation of Jules Vernes famous submarine book. I mean, how much closer can you get? Wouldn't be surprised if the concept was actually inspired by the movie.
there are some really great time laps movies you can find if you search on the net by Martin Krol. They are pretty old and pretty well known but they still rock. They go through the whole process and can be great reference or inspiration when getting to know 3D
W/e skills you have shouldn't prevent you from trying. Practise makes perfect. Where to go next? Get some references for inspiration and do a few sketches. GL. edit: ..and who cares if you finish in time for the contest? finish the piece.
After reading this thread I decided to pick it up. Now I am ruined on trying to get work done on the portfolio. :( But at the same time it is inspiring looking at all the environments. I just need to break away from playing and get some work done.
Music, or anything inspirational, or reading a book. Apart from Videogames ART not video games and art. Anything related to 3d or concept art is what I love to watch or read about. From that to Programming parts of things. I also draw in my free time.
Looks fantastic, I liked all of the campaign trailers. Glad to find out Hans Zimmer was doing the music, I love games with good soundtracks. The New York backdrop kinda reminds of the movie Cloverfield, did you guys actually take inspiration from it?
I agree with what vahl and Snader said. all valid points, and next site update def incorporate some of that stuff. Overall, really inspiring stuff Jesse! My 2 fav pieces are the pimped up revolver and the helicopter :) Keep up the good work!
Nice ones Wrath, I saw your post about this on the CoH boards, too. Maybe I should get into doing some of this too. It's been a while not doing any non-texture paintings. You've inspired me to do some my friends characters.
What Orb and V said. I usually don't comment on Blizzard related thread, but this game is a LOT of fun. It's definitely "Easy to Learn, Difficult to Master" which makes it really interesting and addicting at the same time :D It was also really inspiring to witness the development process.
looks like plenty of geo is reused, so it's not a brand new 10k character every 2 weeks ... very nice work, i like the subtlety of all the pieces. looks like sam fisher has indeed been inspired by solid snake in this latest iteration...
