@Sipe: Wait, wait, wait...you mean to say, I can render/bake something in Max for the maps, using all of it's native tools like MatID, etc...with all the benefit of XN tangent? You're bloody awesome mate!
Hi guys, I've started poking at HLSL within 3ds Max and put together a toon shader. I'll release it as soon as is ready. @ MoP: I hope you don't mind me using your awesome Goblin to demonstrate the shader :)
havardsc: awesome work. Now if we could just get a nice maya flow map tool going we'd be set! I swear i'm about to jump ship any day now with max having all the cool stuff
hmmmm..... Yeah. I will have to look into that (sqlite). Right now something like 1000 images though is only 50MB of HDD space or something. So its not that bad. But if I could speed it up/use less space or whatever, that would be awesome.
It feels like Maya has more new scripts than 3DSMax :-) Let us Max users enjoy some unique scripts like Octopus menu. We already feel like everyone is giving up on Max, while it's still awesome!
@OutOfInspiration Yeah man, thats a pretty awesome tool you got there :D. I don't mind the new layout, I think it works well. What are the two spinners for though for the bake dimensions? Does that setup allow for non square images? If not, that would be one thing to add. It's a little picky, but might be nice to have a…
O that sounds awesome render. Been playing around with a Maya screenshot script (sort of like Grabviewport except stripped down) and I think I'm going to try and implement something like that (most likely Dropbox though) with an option for opening in Photoshop or uploading it.
This is awesome, could have used it some time ago, would have been so much easier! hopefully i have to do some RTS Levels again, making levels the starcraft editor way is good fun, did that a lot in starcraft 1. :)
I'd like to see it! Can't guarantee I'd do anything with it at the moment, but would be fun to look at and learn from. Your video looks really nice, is a clever solution. I've just baked such objects to plane as a heightmap for the same effect in the past. CrazyButcher... that's awesome. o_O
@TooLzor Layer Cake looks awesome! I'm going to share that with my environment artists. @nodeway The VHACD plugin looks amazing too. One suggestion is to raise the volume of your voice a little bit. You were difficult to hear with my headphones here at work.
