@tehrobster2 Someone posted this plane-shift + Bend method before, just use a FFD to get the grips shape and then "Create Shape" from the edges to get that Wire Wrapping.
Hello everyone. This is my first time trying to model something but I was wondering how I would be able to get a sharper edge on this? I'm trying to create a Pokeball. Thank you
I would first do a blockout with some simple cylinders. Just create one, and copy, rotate, scale and deform it with noise, lattice and so on. To give a better illusion of wrapped geometry the cylinders need to overlap nearly completely at some points. After you got the rough form make some detail adjustments. I know that…
Thank you timotronprime for answering and I have one more question about modeling, in maya im currently modeling a robot arm and a lot of his parts are using around cylinders. I want to get rid of this small bump that it creates when im trying to add edge loops so when I smooth it later it doesn't have it, I just want my…
2 questions 1) How I can create this rope with requirement that I can easily change it's length and width later? https://i.gyazo.com/e7421bb9af08377bc52c78e8fe56046f.png 2) On screenshot below you can see folds on the balloon. It happens because of the ropes. https://i.gyazo.com/d59aff704cdb1863e6c4559931371216.png How I…
@FrankPolygon Thank you very much for the reply! Out of curiosity, what is the tool you're using to create the first boolean cutter? I've been attempting it using lattices but it doesn't come out quite right. Using Maya 2024 by the way.
Using a boolean for that shape seems to be faster at creating a clean edge there, rather than using chamfer or control edges. I will have the time to figure it out tomorrow after work.
How might you guys go about creating the indents in this cylinder? I can't seem to add support edges without getting nasty creasing going the length of the cylinder.
As it's curved, you then need to have evenly spaced geometry, and plenty of it (the more you have, the more natural support loops they provide). Avoid having poles on corners, as that'd create a pinch.
If you're using a typical edgeloop insertion tool to create those loops you'd need to go back and delete edges to make the second example I gave. It's quicker to just leave the extra edgeloops in there.
