Jogshy! I have a few new suggestions. (Do I need to say that XN is getting better and better, still? :) ) I would love to have a very simple extra baking option : wireframe! This doesn't require to fetch any info from the highpoly ; just a simple wireframe render of the lowpoly. Maybe you could have color settings and…
[ QUOTE ] OH WOW! that was it! its the SCALE! [/ QUOTE ] Told ya! Usually xNormal shows a warning indicating this if radius <1.0f... you had bad luck... was 1.2 so didn't see the message box hehe... I should increase the warning to 2.0f it seems. The cause is that I use an "epsilon" error margin for floating point…
xNormal (v3.18.4.37652) never respond after pressing the Generate Maps button but not crashes or hangs. Hi, there. I'm baking a normal map and a texture map from a high poly model with vertex color(polypaint). When I press the Generate Maps button, xNormal seems working but after "Counting lowpoly Default's triangles…
[ QUOTE ] Just a suggestion (don't know if others would disagree), but for the 3d viewer, how about doing away with using the alpha channel for transparency/spec-lvl/gloss/etc. and giving them their own slots? [/ QUOTE ] Unfortunally I am completely out of PS3.0 texture sampler and input registers ( 10 of 10 being used…
I just checked 3.17.0 Beta 5(what i happen to have installed here) The default rendering method using xn will render broken edges. Using a cage is an entirely different process and can not be considered the "default behavior" as it requires a different workflow to use. In comparison, load up maya, go to transfer maps, add…
Erasing any vertex/face/edge will invalidate the topology, yep. So... the initial external cage must be a perfect clone of the lowpoly mesh. The only operation allowed is to move vertices/faces/edges. If you add/erase any face, edge or vertex then the error dialog will appear! xNormal >= 3.12.0 (if I remember well)…
Ok Earth, RAR received. 1) Yes, it happens to me too with your files. Using cages and not using them. With the faster raycaster and with the conservative one. With the "smooth normals" option and without it. Yes, some weird thing happens... 2) I imported all in 3dsmax 9 sp2. Reset XForm+Collapse. Saved both highpoly files…
Hi Jog! Thanks a ton for the new wireframe baking option! it's one of these little things that help a lot. Also It would be nice to see the return of multiple bakes at once, even with something very simple when it comes to naming conventions. Like, the user gives a generic name to the bake and the maps get named like…
jogshy: Excellent, v3.1.2 fixed the bug I was getting, I can now generate ambient occlusion maps as well as normals! Also I think the 3d viewer is an awesome tool, since some programs don't have a previewer for this sort of thing, and often I've seen people asking where they can get a free program to view lowpoly meshes…
[ QUOTE ] Thanks. You appear to be right, I only have d3dx9_30.dll, not d3dx9_33.dll . However, apparently now I'm in a quandry because I know I've run the installer for the latest Direct X drivers from Microsoft, the one xNormal directs me to, however apparently it isn't installed. >_< [/ QUOTE ] Try with this one…
