actually, that's the exact skeleton i used for this. haha. i had to adjust some of the proportions with it though. My peers said that the head and feet seemed a bit too small and the legs too long. so i adjusted them accordingly to compensate for the body mass. and thank you for the link, i will definitely check out the…
The result of todays effort. I took the advice of learning / studying the planes of the face and went with it. The skeleton diagram above was really helpful. I know I still need more work though. Any advice thus far? Tomorrow I plan to study the planes more so and study muscle / bone structure further.
@throttlekitty Thanks for the reply. Playing with those options does help me get a bit better results. As for specifics, I'm trying to deform clothing to fit onto different bodies. each body has different topology and weighting to the skeleton. Usually I just do this manually, either by moving vertices or the grab…
Thanks to everyone for your responses! It kinda looks like a got involved in this project to get my feet wet and dove right into the deep end... It also dawns on me that I'll have to re-skin each new component to the skeleton: especially when they move/deform differently (ie plate mail v leather tunic). -sigh-
I'd go for UT2004, because at least themodel would get used. it's not that hard to get a model in, if you use a default skeleton, not as easy as Quake2 was, but fairly easy. It's less easy, but not difficult to have a custom animated characterin UT2K4. HL2... I'd say wait 6 months until the path is more well documented.…
Skeleton, you say? See, additional suggestions are always good :) Looks like I gotta turn into a hand-freak for some time. Time to bring out the pen and paper! If I don't forget to, by the time I achieve some results of my new fetish, I'll post proggress here for you guys to C&C :)
MS3d only takes one bone per vertex so there's no way the rigging will be completely intact. The SMD and PSK exporters for Blender don't support skeletons, MD5 would be the best way to get data from Blender into other apps but MS3d can't read that. MAX can, I think. And MAX should be able to export to MD2.
Go and look over in 2d/3d discussion. Raven have put up an awesome resource for creating mods, player models and animations. Judging by the quick skim read I gave it, animations are not restricted by any default player skeleton, and entirely new characters with their own animation sets can be added fairly easily. Go read!
Yes, you're right - I should keep on improving :-) This model was my first Character with skeleton I just started with Maya about 3-4 Months ago. I was smoothing a little around the arms, thats right. I found the environment-map there was very ugly before; Maybe its better to apply smoothing by hand ...
hey guys new updatez, quick concepts after lunchtime, I was in the mood to draw single items and blades :D Stuff for Spectre and Skeleton king. I will try to do at least 2 singles per day from now! So keep tuned in if you want to do some collab!
