thanks gmanx for the one pixel tip. there is artifacting from it being stretched vertically but i can live with it. besides, that fucking line is gone now, hooray. anyway, the page loads really fast now so thanks for all the tips.
Hey thanks a lot for the tips Stimpack. I finally had some time to rework these pieces. I redid the unwrap for the birdcage, I'll start retexturing it using the tips I got. Here's the uv layout, suggestions are always welcome.
I'd agree with the other guys but also think about the black shading on the shirt underneath the tie. If that tie was animated when he was moving it would look horrible, a lighter shade of grey would work better as a shadow, less harsh.

Great, these tips are a fantastic help for me and I think the new version is already far greater now. Smoothing everything was a great enhancer. There is still something wrong, but let's see what the other tips will do.

Hey Gannon I was curious if you had any tips on vertex painting. Like for the leaves, would it be best to take variations of the same texture or just use constants, multiply, etc. New to this vertex painting so any tips would be great

Does anybody have any tips when it comes to making hair cards and UV'ing them? I know hair cards can be a long and painful process, but just want to see if there are any extra tips out there.
