I think the OP wants the flame to move in capture from the game - in which case you'll want to use the dumpmovie console command, then manually edit and compile the images it gives you to gif.

It's not due to the power of the system, but the framebuffer memory on the 360. After Effects has an awesome particle fx system. I had to do a scene of a door exploding. All the flames, smoke, and dust were done in there. Saved a lot of time.
