Accept the concrete job. Take the art test, and forget about the west coast. If it happens great, but a job in hand is worth two on the coast. Also survival in the west gcoast is around 65K if you livemiserly and expect to save money. Scott -

We've had to set up a test recently for the character artist position we need to fill. I can't post it, but it was basically model a 650 triangle character head with a color, normal and specular map. We provide a black and white piece of concept Art. The suggested time limit was 16 hours, but of course there's no true way… -

bah, humbug, buy a better power supply then! i just bought a new computer too, with I7 920 processor, 6gb of ram, and ATI 9800GT gfx card, on 64 bit vista. mobo required 600 watts, so i had to upgrade the installed PSU from 500 watt, to 650 watt. its very responsive and haven't given me any major troubles so far. i love… -

No normal map need? But I don't understand one thing. I never did normal map before, but diffuse and normal don't have same goal, isn't it? For exemple Diffuse give life to 3D (sorry this is hard to explain with my english <_<) and normal map is for light render with adding relief on polygon? No? I'm false in explication?… -

But you're loosing three quarter of your initial size not only the half, the textures are 2dimensional not 1dimensional 512x512 are 262144 pixels, half of that is 131072 pixels but 256x256 is 65536 pixels which is a quarter of your initial size, so 6 pixels end up in 1,5 pixels which is an error source, it might not be…
