Hey there, attached below is the link to the great breakdown (most of you know this i'm sure) from Morten Olsen (Sunset Overdrive) where he uses mostly trim sheets and tileable to build the whole world. I would like to know if there is any great tool for 3ds max to place the uvs exactly at the border of the bevel like he's…
@Justin Meisse really appreciate the help. I think I'll check out that Wells Branch/Windemere area next weekend to see what the apartments are like in that area. Also thanks for the game dev map, I think I might be a creep and just drive past a few of them lol @Taylor Brown oof I'm actually used to a 45 min commute but I…
Owkey. This beast is now fully ready for the first PLA test print. Have learned so much about how to make assets for PLA 3D printing. Each piece is currently: - Support free (meaning all overhang angles are no more than 45 degree) - All meshes are closed - Enough wiggle room for the piece that need to be glued together…
Hi Hugo, I was just admiring your pose sketches. I was curious if you spend a specific amount of time on these per day? Last year I was doing speed sculpts for about 45 mins per sculpt, but tapered off a bit on that the last few months to focus on trying to finish some sculpts all the way through to completion, but now i'm…
Hey, thanks for the feedback. Yeah I have a tendency to make my edges too sharp. I'll soften up some of the areas that will probably cause trouble. The rectangular pieces that make up the grip area are at a 45 degree angle so those will bake just fine. I think the big problem areas are the little plates and flanges. Nice…
For your drawing studies here's a little workflow to try out. I did this studying Loomis heads a while back and saw drastic improvements. Actually, writing this.. I should do this again. Anyways... 1. Draw from your reference. ANALYZE what you are drawing ... don't just copy it. 2. Now, take tracing paper and trace your…
Do not make the mistake and work ultra zoomed in all the time. Dont forget the real size of your object and how it is viewed. It is very obvious that you work up close and match it for that "size" For p.rails, you may even have the edges on the front of the gun wider in a linear fashion, than the back ones, to counter…
Thanks guys. @ MrNinjutsu : haha I read your mind. @ MeintevdS : hahaha I don't think you have asked me yet... I might have missed the question. hmmm anyway sorry if I did miss it. I usually spend about 15 mins setting them up and then ages playing with the proportions and shapes. All in all I would say about 45 mins to an…
The stairs seem steeper in most of the reference pictures; aside from the first picture they appear to go up at a 45 degree angle. The bricks are a bit too large; each of the steps is (roughly) two bricks tall. Don't forget the shrubberies in front of the building; they'll add some color and break up the harsh lines.…
Here is a few WIP viewport grabs of my Glocks slide and barrel. Being I was going to school for gunsmithing before I went to art school (weird combo I know) it was easy to get accurate measurements of a Glocks side. Many of the above reference images are of 9mm Glocks, the one i'm modeling is a .45 caliber , very similar…
