Yeah...I think I may do that for specific areas as more of a hybrid with tiling elsewhere and I guess make extremely heavy use of decals. That would be a hell of a lot of unnecessary polys and give me 2fps lol Thanks all for the help
Here is a update with the environment I have made to pimp the Drone. I managed to get the entire enviro into 1 2048x2048 sheet. The diffuse is just a colour blockout at the moment. I am also in the process of adding some decals in to break it up a bit.
Thanks Writer :) update: To do - -Floor, beams and ceiling texture is being re-done - Sofa/Seating by wall [x] - Curtain Variants [x] - Chair arms through cushion moved - Glass in windows [x] - Clutter, SO MUCH CLUTTER - Decals
youd have to make it matte black paint. some big scratched decals on the side and hood. roll cage with fabric netting. the roll cage would surround the cabin and then in the back it would be a bit higher for a machinegun turrent placement. offroad tires too!
3 things! - Awesome job, I love it. - How is the "NCC 1701 F" done? A decal from another texture? - Could you do a cross reference of areas of the ship to where they are on the texture? For instance - the lit windows, where are they on the sheet? Etc. Thanks!
Next update. Managed to get the dust layers to work. Because it was not strongly visible, I decided to add some decals such as hay and dirt under the boxes or on the floor and on the sides. The size of the tables has been increased. As always, open to any type of feedback.
Low poly of a step ladder. 3.6k tris Also, this wood material i made a while ago but forgot to post it :p it's being used for the wood beams on the ceiling Edge decals provide some softness to the meshes as the beams use only tileables
I've been playing around a little bit with lighting and finishing some of the small props. Also, i've decided to change the design of two of them so i'm excited to see how will look! I added some dust and leaks decals too.
For something like that you would want to use a floater decal. SO you would take the text off the wing and put it onto a flat plane with some alpha mapping for the text and then lay that over the top of the wing where the text would go.
i think the insignia on the tabard is too finely detailed. perhaps simplifying the shapes in the decal will make it read better at smaller sizes. also, i think black is too much, i'd lower the contrast. but, i like the art style. excellent work.
