It depends how much texture memory you have available among other things. A single 1024 DXT1 is about 1mb of texture memory. So assuming you have 3 per complete texture then you could be looking at about 30 per 90mb. A ps3 has 256mb of video ram so assuming you only get a third of that for textures then 30 or so is a…
thats fine but again you have to be looking for them and have a somewhat prior knowledge and also be a regular visitor to particular gaming sites. you have to want to click on it, Im talking about sitting at home watching mythbusters or whatever and all of a sudden an advert comes up and you go 'oooooooo that looks good'.…
New question: I have been playing with photogrammetry but I got awful results xD. When you are taking pictures, how do you go with the exposure change? If you are using a dslr in manual mode, and lets say you keep the same Iso and the same focal lenght, depending on the area you are shooting at and also depending on the…
As for the process - Photogrammetry has changed a lot since I did this project - here is how I did it back then, and how it could be done now - First off, the camera and lens - with photogrammetry (even current) it is best to use a decent dSLR with a FIXED lens. If anything changes in the lens, then the absolute center of…
The paint itself on most ww2 tanks is a matte finish with what I assume is high specular low gloss. Generally I've stuck to greyscale spec maps but always wondered if I should put some color into them. The gloss tends to be pretty dark when ive done them. Here is some reference to give you an idea Pedro.…
Because I have the day off/too much time on my hands, additional thoughts: RAW v JPEG Really, the question here isn't even raw vs jpeg, its processed vs unprocessed images. If you're taking texture reference, I assume you're at minimum adjusting white balance and exposure (on a calibrated monitor) when you get back to your…
Yep, did it with them, but as I said in my latest comment I got those random polygons welded to main pieces with wrong sides. I dunno how it happened. Now I need to find a quick way how to weld them all without doing it manually - will take forever. uvs here https://www.dropbox.com/s/ds31wq0onfofnf5/weragt.png?dl=0
for color, i'm not sure if you have ever watched "walking with dinosaurs" on the discovery channel but they have some really cool renders of the dinosaurs in colors. Maybe that will give you some ideas. http://dsc.discovery.com/dinosaurs/ ^ that has a lot of video clips and dino viewers that can give you some ideas
I'm in Kirkland WA on Comcast Cable, the fastest they offer. Its a good connection, but you can get better. DSL at work sucked, I had massive lag problems with it. I'm not sure of the exact speed in numbers.
