Hello Polycounters, So I don't know about many others here, but lately I've felt like I'm being tugged around a little bit and I'm starting to just get overall frustrated with my job searching. The studio that I had been steadily employed at for many years has pretty much closed up shop and I've been looking for work, and…
Hello. It's my first time that I join to challange. I choose prop modeling because I always want to make stylized model, also I like this style. My goal for this project is to make Game Ready asset using a Maya (Block shape, UV), ZBrush (Sculpt) and Substance Designer (Detail), next it will be render out in Marmoset or…
If you press the spacebar on the 2d preview in designer it shows you the tiling. In this case the material simply doesn't tile well and you're not going to be able to fix that properly with sneaky shader tricks etc. Particularly on something so structured. Making interesting textures that tile well takes a huge amount of…
it looks like you've grabbed some of the textures straight from the reference image too - just cutting out the photo and sticking it on a poly doesnt really show off any texturing skill. it's probably pretty low res if you get up close to it and it'll have shadow detail etc. in it that you probably dont want. there's a…
I use Substance Painter and sometimes Designer . SPainter has a nice name matching system to avoid the pain of cage tweaking . So the baking rays doesn't return hi poly object normals or other properties beyond two matching pieces like when you bake normal map on a finger and getting other fingers projected too. It…
So with vertex normals, when you try to shade a simple cone, you have to use a lot of geometry or a normal map. Because if you try to use just 1 vertex on top, the back side will not shade correctly. And if you use quads with a flat cylinder top, you get these hard smoothing edges from the tris. I know the simplest…
interesting vid. at the beginning, there's a dude wearing a polycount shirt! lol http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/brink/video/6275321/brink-developer-diary-5--minds-on-the-brink?tag=gumballs%3Bimg%3B3
The Frick 2! Modelled in blender and textured in substance and I had really fun texturing this robot ! The guy who originally made this concept named it "The Frick" so this is mine version of it called "The Frick 2 " its my first time posting here artstation:-https://www.artstation.com/artwork/W2AAaD MORE RENDERS IN MY…
Thank you once more, Eric, for all that helpful information! Do you still use IOR for your materials, or have you switched to metallic since PBR? I'm also trying to achieve a nice brick color. I made one in Substance Designer and sampled colors from a photo using a gradient, but it never seems to look quite realistic. Do…
Heh thanks yeah well these aren't the actual resolutions of my textures, I guess i should have stated that. The Fence material has a transparency and an emissive that's just the diffuse there. I'm missing some normals on my plants but not on the bricks, hah... I expected some one to comment on the bricks. Well this place…
